The catastrophe had killed over half of the world's population and those who survived were left with a razed wasteland that they used to call home. For the decades that followed, the survivors struggled to survive among the wasteland. Resources were scarce and conflict sparked every waking moment. Though small communities of survivors cropped up here and there, internal conflict always made sure that they would never last long. [break] All but one [break] A small outpost by the name of Aurora had one thing that others didn't; a governing body that oversaw all the going ons of the outpost. Though there was occasionally conflict between residents, it was always quickly quelled and those who would threaten the peace that Aurora had created for its people were exiled without hesitation. Other survivors began to hear of the outpost and began congregating towards it, and soon what used to be a small village of humans trying to survive had grown into a bustling town. [break] Soon, Aurora was the only place that humankind could live in comfort. [break] As Aurora's population grew, its governing body shifted and changed to make overseeing the people easier. A police force was created, and an administration team to divide up tasks of research, construction, development, and expansion, between those skilled in those areas. [break] Aurora eventually grew from a town into a city. [break] [break] 500 years later, and the now named Neo Aurora was a bustling megacity. A glorious reminder of the place mankind used to call their home before the stars disappeared from the sky. But all was not well for the citizens of humanity's final outpost. [break] While those who lived within the inner districts of the city lived comfortable and luxurious lives, those who lived in the outer districts may as well have been living in the inhospitable wasteland that lay beyond the city's walls.
